Be Ready!

Prepare, Plan, Assemble Your Self Sufficient Kit, Stay Informed

Greenwater Disaster Supplies Kit:

  1. Two to three weeks supply of non-perishable food.
  2. Seven day supply of water – one gallon of water per person, per day.
  3. Water filtering unit or best to have a purifier which will not pass bacteria larger than 0.2 microns.
  4. Portable, battery powered radio & extra batteries (emergency NOAA weather radio).
  5. Flashlight, headlamp and extra batteries.
  6. First aid kit and manual.
  7. Sanitation and hygiene items (moist towelettes, toilet paper).
  8. Matches & waterproof container.  Ideal to have magnesium fire starting tool.
  9. Whistle.
  10. Knife, saw and/or hatchet.
  11. Complete change of warm clothing and shoes per person (include hat, gloves, neck warmer).
  12. Kitchen accessories and cooking utensils, including a can opener.
  13. Temporary shelter such as plastic sheeting and/or tent.
  14. Sleeping bag per person and blanket(s).
  15. Photocopies of credit, identification cards, list of important phone numbers.
  16. Family communication plan (where to meet and include an out of state contact person)
  17. Cash and coins.
  18. Special needs items, such as prescription medications, eye glasses, contact lens solutions and hearing aid batteries.
  19. Items for infants such as formula, diapers, bottles and pacifiers.
  20. Assess, plan and provide for any unique family and pet needs.
  21. Review home owner insurance for fire, flood and earthquake.

If there is a disaster that impacts Greenwater such as wildfire, flooding, earthquake, Highway 410 impassable, Mt. Rainier lahar, volcanic activity, etc.:

A.  Central area communication support center is the Greenwater Community Hall / Fire Station, 59707 Star Route 410 East.

B.  NOAA Weather Radio is a major part of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) used not only for flood and weather related events, but also for fast occurring hazard events around the clock.  Portable weather / emergency radios are available at most radio electronic retailers and internet outlets such as Oregon Scientific Store.

C.  Check on your neighbors.  One of life’s high points is being a positive contributor in a community that cares and supports one another.
